CRiSP's Memorial Program is designed for dog owners who are facing end-of-life decisions and have no suitable alternative home, through friends or family, to provide for beloved pet-dog.
The knowledge that CRiSP will ensure a wonderful lifestyle for the pet-dog after the owner’s death is a huge comfort and emotional relief for everyone.
Estate attorneys and financial planners who have prepared, or are in the process of preparing, their clients’ estate plans will need to make arrangements for any special handling of the owner’s pet-dog upon the owner’s demise.
Rehoming providers who previously offered home visitation to owners now deceased, would be encouraged to provide volunteer community services.
Client dogs interacting with other people, mostly elderly or children, will be registered by the CBF as emotional support comfort dogs to meet the certification requirements for community service.
This would serve as a legacy memorial by offering emotional support visits to patients in hospitals, nursing homes, children's hospitals, rehabilitation centers and veteran facilities. The owner’s name can be memorialized on their pet-dogs jacket during visits to these facilities.
This initiative could serve a dual purpose by accommodating the interests of the dog owner and continuing their legacy, while providing valuable community service.
Upon the demise of the pet-owner, CRiSP would appreciate a memorial remembrance funded endowment, bequest or pledge.
