The CBF seeks to establish Canine Residences in Supporting People (CRiSP) grant program to help vulnerable dogs along with their families.
This initiative would award grants to canine rescue and other nonprofit animal welfare organizations who would identify qualified households and facilitate the rehoming of dogs for those physically unable to care for their pet dog.
This arrangement would include regular visitations to preserve the lifelong bond and provide the pet dog with a permanent loving home, rather than being forced to live in an animal shelter.
To participate in the CRiSP grant program, canine-focused organizations will need to ensure a rigorous process for vetting rehoming providers with safe and comfortable homes.
These organizations will need to identify qualified households who are capable of providing a loving home with regular visitation to the dog owner. They will then facilitate and oversee the interaction between the residence provider and the most appropriate dog owner who is no longer able to care for their pet dog.
Participants will coordinate arrangements between owners and rehoming providers to furnish their pet dogs with a permanent loving home. Providers would also offer regular visits for living owners who seek to continue their lifelong bond; as well as those preparing for end-of-life and who are looking to establish a legacy Memorial.
CBF seeks to keep these vulnerable dogs together with their families through regular visits, rather than breaking that bond when the family pet dog is abandoned to an animal shelter.
CRiSP grants would be distributed directly to each individual participating establishment based on the number of dogs that are rehomed successfully on an annual basis. Funds are to be used to cover administrative and management costs associated with identifying, selecting and vetting qualified households, and coordinating the interaction between the dog owners and rehoming providers.
CRiSP grants will be available to support rehoming programs that accommodate Living Owners with disabilities who are incapable of caring for their pet dog but still seek to maintain their lifelong bond through regular visitations; and those preparing for end-of-life who are looking to establish a legacy Memorial.
Dog owners who wish to participate in this program need to submit information regarding the extent of their incapacitation and financial status for the CBF to determine their eligibility.
The Caplan Bensley Foundation provides grants to participating facilities for the sole purpose
of dog rehoming and placement.
Interested organizations can sign up for the program by completing the CRiSP Application form online, and submitting it along with proof of Federal, State, and Local regulatory compliance.
Please complete and scan your CRiSP Application form along with all regulatory compliance forms and email to Grants@Caplan-Bensley.org
To renew annually, facilities awarded grants will need to provide reports listing all rehoming successes for all residence providers and dog owner beneficiaries. CBF uses this information
to determine grant amounts for the following year.
